Laga Ta Kalasungay 2023

Laga Ta Kalasungay — meaning “Women of Kalasungay” in Bukidnon’s Binukid dialect — is a celebration of community, culture, and female strength, held as part of the Kalasungay Barangay Fiesta in Bukidnon.

This project was realised in collaboration with Pageant Director Kenly Cacay and the Kalasungay Youth Council (SK Kalasungay). Special thanks goes to Floridel Aliday of Floridel Aliday Couture, whose support was crucial in transforming the vision into reality.

For STAINED, this collaboration wasn’t just about participating in a community event — it was about honoring stories, heritage, and the resilience of women through creative expression.

The project drew inspiration from:

  • Cultural richness – celebrating local traditions and identity

  • Empowerment – highlighting women’s strength and agency

  • Creative expression – integrating wearable art as a form of storytelling

Every piece and visual created reflects STAINED’s ethos of transforming pre-loved garments and materials into meaningful, one-of-a-kind wearable art.

This collaboration demonstrates STAINED’s belief in art as a bridge between people, stories, and meaning. By working with community partners and cultural initiatives, wearable art becomes more than fashion — it becomes a living part of memory and identity.

The Laga Ta Kalasungay project shows that when creativity meets collaboration, it empowers communities and celebrates heritage in vibrant, meaningful ways.
